TOEIC Part 7 tips: reading comprehension
TOEIC Part 7 has 54 questions on single, double and triple passages. Read the questions first, scan the text for keywords instead of reading every word, answer specific detail questions before general ones, and keep about 55 minutes for this part.
Part 7 structure
There are 29 questions on single passages (emails, ads, notices, text-message chats, articles) and 25 questions on multiple passages (two or three linked texts).

Strategy that saves time
- Read the question and underline the keyword (name, date, number).
- Scan the passage for that keyword or a synonym.
- Read only the sentences around it carefully.
- Eliminate options that contradict the text.
Tricky question types
- NOT true / NOT mentioned: check each option against the text one by one.
- Inference: 'What is suggested about…?' The answer is implied, not stated.
- Multiple passages: one question usually needs information from two texts, for example a price in an ad and a discount in an email.
- Chat messages: 'What does Mr. Lee mean when he writes…?' Use the messages around it.
Do not get stuck
If a question takes more than 90 seconds, guess, mark it and move on. Easy questions at the end are worth the same points.
